Paul Alivisatos, recently inaugurated as the 14th president of the University of Chicago, paid his first visit to the Marine Biological Laboratory in mid-November. Following the MBL Board of Trustees meeting, Alivisatos spent a day touring the campus, accompanied by MBL Director Nipam Patel and colleagues. They went on a specimen collecting trip on The Gemma, visited MBL laboratories and facilities, and met with several MBL scientists and students.
