Marine ecologist Jane Lubchenco and her husband split one tenure-track position between them in order to have time to raise their children while moving forward in their careers. In this interview with The Scientist, Lubchenco, former U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere, describes her path to a successful life in science, including a “transformative summer” at the Marine Biological Laboratory.
