Guillaume Urtecho

Congratulations to MBL alumni Leah Guthrie and Guillaume Urtecho, two of 21 Hanna Gray Fellows selected by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 2020. The Hanna Gray Fellows are exceptional early-career scientists who will each receive up to $1.4 million over four years in support of their research. Guthrie, a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University, is a 2015 alumna of MBL’s Strategies and Techniques for Analyzing Microbial Populations (STAMPS) course; Urtecho, a postdoctoral scientist at Columbia University, is a 2018 alumnus of the Microbial Diversity course.

Three MBL affiliates are among the 2021 Sloan Research Fellows recently announced by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. They are Maria Ioannou of University of Alberta (alumna, Analytical and Quantitative Light Microscopy, 2012; teaching assistant, Physiology, 2017); Laura D. Lewis of Boston University (alumna, Methods in Computational Neuroscience, 2013) and Eva A. Naumann of Duke University (alumna, Methods in Computational Neuroscience, 2012). Sloan Research Fellows are promising early-career scientists who each receive $75,000 in support of their research.
